Working with IT

Wednesday 28th May 2008

Kindly sponsored by:

Are your IT colleagues challenging to work with?

Does your IT department know what Information Professionals do?

Would you like to work more effectively with your IT team?

This seminar will help you solve these, and other issues relating to working on joint IT and information projects.

Our first presenter is Jennifer Smith, a qualified information professional, who has worked for Andersen’s and Linklaters, and now works for ONEIS, the software company she co-founded to      develop an information management system for small organisations. Jennifer will be talking about the important skills and perspectives information professionals can bring to software design, particularly software aimed at organising information. She will share what she's learnt about:

·     Why IT Professionals need Information Professionals

·     How to spot a good IT Professional and how to nurture your relationship with them

·     The process of designing useful IT applications, and the common pitfalls to avoid

We will also be joined by Kenny Walker, who runs his own information and consultancy business,  Reston Consulting.  After graduating  with a degree in Information Management he joined a boutique investment bank in London where due to the size of the business and for historical reasons the research manager had responsibility for technology.

Kenny will be focusing on the "joint role" within smaller business whilst highlighting the benefits which flow from having control of both the delivery mechanism and the content.
